Americans are becoming heavier, and that's no joke.  Not only are we Americans heavier, but also we're "heavy" about being heavier.  Ask any overweight individual and they will tell you that they often feel shame, guilt, hopelessness, helplessness, frustration, sadness about their weight. 

 

Often they think, "There must be something wrong with me" or else they find a convenient rationalization for their condition.  Neither of these approaches is empowering. 

 

The fact is, there is no one magical answer other than the common sense approach:  Eat less food than the body needs to fuel itself.  If you eat more food than the body needs, the body stores that excess as fat.  It's as simple as that. 

 

Well, if it's so simple, why do hundreds and hundreds of diet books continue to generate millions of dollars?  The answer to that is simple too:  People want to get results without changing their behavior.  It's like that old song, "Everybody Wants to Get to Heaven ... But Nobody Wants to Die."

          And nobody wants to diet, either.  So the secret ingredient of any successful weight loss program is cultivating the willingness to change habits, specifically the willingness to love ourselves more than we love food.

The power of Diet Laughing is that it's a set of principles that work with just about any program for weight loss or weight management.  In our simple and playful ten-step program (this puts us two steps ahead of those 12-Step folks), we use good-natured laughter to help the reader develop the willingness to adopt ten commonsense eating practices, and release the unhealthy thought patterns that have kept

the weightiness -- and the weight -- in place.

 

Being able to lighten up through levity helped me physically lighten as well.  I found a set of spiritual practices and principles for weight loss, and over a period of many months, I lost 40 pounds.  That was years ago, and I have kept the weight off all this time. 

 

“Diet Laughing”™ (a real program) is not a true “diet”, as we all know DIETS DON’T WORK.  Long-term weight-loss research shows that people, who learn to eat “normal” foods, in a way thin eater’s do, are able to maintain their weight loss.

The Classes

 

 We don't often think of laughter as a weight management tool (although I am told that laughter does burn calories), particularly since "fat" jokes and overweight comedians humiliating themselves seem more hurtful than healthy.  And yet, in an intimate group where there is trust, rapport, and a common experience, the laughter represents a huge sigh of relief.  No one is laughing at anybody, everyone is laughing with everybody.

 

Being heavy about weight does not help people to get willing, but I found laughter does. By practicing the “Diet Laughing™” secrets in our classes, people lighten up and experience a new excitement from their new level of willingness to make changes.

 

In a fun party atmosphere of music and song, I share what has worked for me and has allowed me to lose 40lbs and keep it off for over 10 years. Because our focus is on helping people to get willing, the classes offer a menu of fun ideas… all secrets to a thin mindset! People can pick and choose what will work for them.
